I’ve been wanting to try making DIY bath salts with epsom and essential oils for a long time, being a complete bath fiend. If you aren’t familiar with Doterra essential oils, they are the purest essential oil you can get–I usually buy eucalyptus and lavender.
I’ve been branching out a bit more lately incorporating lemon and peppermint into my bath routine. I’m still working my way up to using the oils for different ailments (headaches, allergies, etc.), so I’m usually either throwing a few drops in the bath or using them in a diffuser at night. I do, however, put a little of the eucalyptus under the kids’ noses when they are stuffed up.
To create these DIY bath salts, which I’m giving to friends as gifts, I first cut out strips of wax paper, labelled them with a sharpie, and hot glued the labels onto mini-mason jars.
I then combined 1/3 parts baking soda and 2/3 part epsom salts and divided it into 3 take-out containers/bags because I wanted to use 3 different oils: lemon, peppermint, and eucalyptus. I added the essential oils to each, transferred the salts over to the jars, and added ribbons and spoons to each jar to make them into prettier gifts.
Here are a few photos of my photo, kitchen, and craft assistants (Wynn 5 months, Judah 3 years):
These are fabulous get well soon gift, but also perfect party favors for a baby or bridal shower or for a spa birthday party.
Wishing you have a relaxing weekend!
